🛠️ Warranty Assessment vs Warranty Repair: What’s the Difference?

Understanding What Your Tool Warranty Does (and Doesn’t) Cover

At Tool Beast, we’re committed to helping you get the most out of your tools — whether they’re still under warranty or long past it. One of the most common questions we get is:

If my tool is under warranty, will you just fix it?

Great question — and the answer is: it depends.

Let’s break it down:

🔍 What Is a Warranty Assessment?

Every tool that comes in (warranty or not) starts with a free assessment.

During the assessment, our technicians will:

  • Inspect the tool for signs of manufacturing defects

  • Check for normal wear and tear

  • Look for signs of misuse or damage (like water exposure, broken housing, or stripped screws)

  • Confirm warranty eligibility using the tool’s serial number or receipt

This diagnostic process helps us determine why the tool failed — and that’s the key to understanding whether the repair will be covered.

🧾 What Counts as a Warranty Repair?

A warranty repair means the manufacturer is covering the cost of parts and labour because the failure was due to a defect in materials or workmanship.

Covered under warranty:
✅ Motor failure due to internal short
✅ Faulty switches or triggers
✅ Broken internal parts from factory issues
✅ Batteries or chargers failing within coverage terms

NOT covered under warranty:
❌ General wear and tear (brushes, O-rings, bearings, etc.)
❌ Physical damage (drops, cracks, water damage)
❌ Overuse or abuse (burnt armatures, stripped gears)
❌ Missing serial numbers or unregistered tools (for select)

📋 What Happens If It’s Not Covered?

If our assessment shows the failure is not due to a manufacturing defect, we’ll:

  • Send you a repair estimate

  • Hold off on any work until you’ve approved it

  • Explain all costs clearly (parts, labour, and taxes)

There’s no pressure to proceed. You’re free to approve, decline, or even pick up your tool with no charge for the diagnosis.

🧠 Our Promise: No Surprises

We know the word “warranty” can feel like a gray area — and we’re here to make it easier.

Whether it’s a brand-new tool or a well-loved workhorse, we’ll:

  • Handle the warranty claim for you (if eligible)

  • Only charge you if the repair isn’t covered and you approve the estimate

  • Give you honest advice, every time
